Overview
The School of Languages offers ESL programs to prepare students for English use on campus and in international work environments. English courses combine computer-assisted teaching methodologies and applied linguistics, resulting in the students’ command of the English language. The ESL courses focus on all the major areas of English language acquisition: academic reading skills, strategies for enhancing listening and note taking skills in lectures, techniques for effective academic presentations, skills in academic essay writing, technical and research writing, and TOEFL iBT and IELTS preparation.
All incoming IU students should enroll ESL courses within their first year based on their English Placement Test scores.
